The new year is almost here! With every new year comes opportunities for change, growth, and, of course, inspiration! This is the perfect time to reboot yourself and your style. While you’re focusing on revamping yourself, why not do that same thing for your home decor aesthetic as well? As they always say, new year, new you and that can absolutely apply to your home.
We love researching (and creating!) interior design trends and we wanted to give you the opportunity to get a headstart on some of the amazing ones that are on the horizon for 2019. So, whether your home is a little overdue for a makeover or you just love all things decor, be sure to check out our top 10 favorite new trends for next year below and prepare to get inspired!
Who says florals are just for springtime? Both bold and understated floral patterned wallpaper are slated to make a statement throughout the year.
For 2019, designers are passing on the traditional sofas and armchairs in favor of more rounded furniture. This type of design was popular in the 1960s and 1970s and it’s making a comeback with the rise in popularity of mid-century modern design. Its curved lines are a great way to break up the rigid lines that can be present in a space and we personally love the look.
According to upcoming trends, 2019 is going to be the year where all things red are celebrated. We love red – it’s exciting, dynamic, and can liven up any space. One of our favorite tonal reds is our resident Key Largo Coral, which is a custom color available for many of our furniture pieces.
Speaking of exciting, let’s talk about the accent wall. Accent walls are a great way to break up a space and shift focus to a particular piece of furniture or house feature you want to highlight. Whether it’s with wallpaper or a single-colored paint, consider making a statement with an accent wall this year.
This rising trend is definitely one of our favorites. Like we’ve always said, we eat, sleep, and breathe mid-century modern inspired furniture. We are constantly inspired by the sleek lines and the personal, yet utilitarian style of this design era and have a continued dedication to producing beautiful pieces that fit into that aesthetic.
In a world of mass production, 2019 marks a movement away from the big box furniture and decor stores. Instead, people are turning to artisans to create small batch and bespoke pieces for around the home. This will not only helps smaller businesses but also bring even more personality into your space.
People have often said that black has no place in interior design. But, with the turn of the new year, that’s all going to change in favor of boldness. Black can be a daunting color, but if done right, black can help ground a design scheme and make a room appear brighter.
Houseplants have always been an important part of home decor, but with this trend, we aren’t talking about your mom’s peace lilies. When it’s time to test out your green thumb, consider getting something a little more out of the box to inject a bit of freshness into your home. Some great options are succulents and cacti, aloe vera, ivy, and spider plants.
Neutrals will likely always be in style, but in 2019, designers are urging people to leave cool grays and eggshell whites in the past in favor of their warmer, more dramatic counterparts. You’ll love the effect these warmer colors will have on your design.
Sustainable, Handmade Pieces
More and more, people are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint in many areas of their lives and interior design isn’t immune to that change. Using sustainable fabrics and textures, like jute, wool, and stone, is a great way for people to use more environmentally-friendly pieces without sacrificing style.
