When Kelsey Delange’s bedroom needed a little TLC, she turned to Joybird to redesign it into the bedroom of her dreams. Follow her journey below.
“We wanted to make a space that felt tranquil and relaxing for winding down in the evening, but that was also very uplifting and rejuvenating to make it the perfect place to wake up and start your day.” – Kelsey Delange
Kelsey Delange, founder of Honey and the Hive, is a quirky, creative soul that fell in love with a yellow 1940’s craftsman house. That’s really no surprise at all because, as a painter, she is drawn to colorful scenes. When she walked into her home, however, she knew she would have to make some changes to make it feel like home. The space seemed tired, small, and in need of some attention.
Her bedroom, in particular, was super small, which is standard for homes in the 1940s, and lacked vital storage she needed to make it work for her family. Additionally, the walls were a dreary gray color that made the bedroom look even smaller, and she had a hodgepodge of random bedroom items that she wanted to trade in for a more grown-up look. So, as soon as they moved in, they started getting to work.
“We love how charming the exterior of the house is, and we truly couldn’t have picked a better neighborhood, but we came into this house knowing that it really needed someone to show it a little love on the interior so that it could truly shine.” – Kelsey Delange
Kelsey describes her style as modern-century modern with an eclectic and bohemian flair. She loves clean lines, functionality, and timelessness, but she is also drawn to vibrant color palettes, textures, and patterns that you would see with a bohemian style. She injected that style into her redesign in a few different ways. They painted the walls white, added a bespoke dreamcatcher, a few grounding furniture pieces, and a rug that tied everything together.
The finished product looks like a dream come true. Kelsey created a tranquil and relaxing space by bringing in a lighter color palette to make the room feel like their own personal sanctuary. To solve her storage and furniture issues, she brought in a lot of Joybird pieces like the Hughes Bed, Blythe Dresser with matching nightstands, Elsie Bench, and the Odel Mirror. Kelsey had always loved Joybird for the quality and look of the furniture, so when it was time to redesign her own home, it only made sense to partner with us.
“I think what I love the most is the quality – the craftsmanship of these pieces is unbelievable.” – Kelsey Delange
