We are going to go on record and say that brunch is the best meal, and time, of the day. Think about it – you can eat breakfast and lunch foods at the same time, have juices and coffee (maybe with an added kick!), and afterward, you can laze around the house until it’s time for the next meal. Who doesn’t love that?
Brunch parties somehow make this meal even better because you don’t have to worry about going to a restaurant and spending a ton of money. You can create a relaxing, inviting atmosphere complete with a delicious spread of a variety of foods right in your own home. With a little preparation, some savvy planning, and a massive love of brunch (you’ve already got one down!), you’ll be ready to host a fun brunch party in no time. To help get you started, below are some tips for you to keep in mind as you’re planning.
Have a Few Seating Areas Set Up
Depending on how many people you invite to your party, it might be a good idea to have a few seating areas ready for people to use throughout the event. That way, your guests can flow between different rooms rather than being forced to stay in one area, which they will thank you for. You can even set up a table outside if the weather is nice so you and your guests can get some fresh air!
Have Finger Foods at the Ready
Brunch time starts around 10:00am, so it’s not too early, but it would be a little taxing to get all of your food prepared before everyone starts arriving. The beauty of a brunch party is that there’s no pressure for everything to be done. You just need to have a selection of finger foods, like fruit or tiny sandwiches, and beverages out for your guests to munch on while you’re finishing up your entree. Just make sure that your finger foods are either incredibly easy to prepare or that you make them ahead so you don’t stress yourself out.
One-Pan Dishes are Your Friend
Speaking of your entree, we highly recommend that you forego individual portions of popular, yet complicated brunch foods and opt for a tray bake. Basically, instead of making french toast for everyone, throw all of those ingredients into a pan and make a french toast casserole. Or, if you prefer savory foods, consider making a breakfast egg bake filled with meats and veggies instead of making individual omelets. This method will cut down on the dishes you’re using and free up your time. All without sacrificing great taste – now that’s what we call a win-win.
Prepare a Mixture of Sweet and Savory Foods
Here’s a basic breakdown of the kinds of dishes you should consider having on your menu (complete with recipes):
An Egg and Meat Dish – Eggs Benedict on Avocado Toast
A Savory Dish – Overnight Bacon Breakfast Bake
A Sweet Dish – Waffles with Whipped Cream and Berries
A Green Dish to Keep Things Healthy – Simple Summer Salad
Create Stations for an Easy, Self-Serve Option
Just because you’re hosting a brunch party doesn’t mean you have to run around and prepare things while everyone else is having fun. You put in all of this work to throw a brunch and you should be able to enjoy it. In order to do that, you should set up stations for your food and beverages so everyone is able to grab whatever food they want.
