Kelsey Delange is back with another Before and After redesign that you are sure to love. Read more about it below!
Kelsey Delange started Honey and the Hive in 2014 as a way to share her art and her heart with the world. She creates beautiful, light-hearted, and colorful art that mixes imagery from nature, animals, and everyday objects together to make something one of a kind. Because she’s 5’3″ and absolutely delightful, Kelsey definitely embodies Honey and the Hive’s tagline “a happy little lady painting happy little things.”
That air of happiness and delight bleeds into her everyday life as well. When her family moved into her 1940’s craftsman-style home and saw the bright, yellow exterior, they instantly fell in love. But, the inside left a little bit to be desired. Her living room walls were burgundy and it made the space feel dark and dreary. The space itself is long and narrow, which made it a little tricky to arrange their furniture to make the living room look cohesive.
To remedy this, Kelsey and her husband used their mid-century modern and bohemian styles to create a living room that fits into their new home. They got rid of the burgundy walls and painted the room a bright white, which made a huge difference to the feel of the room. They then completely reconfigured how they arranged their furniture to work with the length of the room instead of against it. Lastly, they brought in furniture pieces and a beautiful rug that tied the whole room together.
“With the living room being the space our family spends the most time I wanted it to be bold, bright, and fun.” – Kelsey Delange
Kelsey’s living room redesign paid off in a wonderful way. They built their color palette around their new Briar Sofa in Royale Peacock from Joybird. They incorporated vibrant shades of teal, warm pinks, and oranges to complement the sofa. The Briar sofa was actually what drew Kelsey to Joybird in the first place, so partnering with them and including the sofa into their redesign was a no-brainer. To finish the room off, they added texture with fun throw pillows and blankets and even got some large prints made of some of Kelsey’s paintings!
“The living room is a perfect reflection of our family and how we spend our lives. It’s our absolute favorite room in the house.” – Kelsey Delange
Kelsey’s living room went from dark and dated to bright and cheerful with the help of some amazing furniture, time and patience, and a little TLC. We love how it looks and she does too! We asked Kelsey what her biggest piece of advice is for redesigning a living room and she said:
