Kristi and Brad Montague are on a mission to make the world a more joyful place – one cool product or kid-focused film at a time. So naturally Joybird fit the bill when furnishing their workspace to be a playful creative lab.
When it comes to joy, this family owns it like a band of rebels! As part of their family business, Montague Workshop, Kristi and Brad create a variety of fun products ranging from stationary, to clothing, prints to enamel pins. They also create fun, engaging videos that are perfect for kids, parents, and well pretty much anyone looking for a bit of wonder, whimsy, and wisdom. As a creative studio, they wanted their space to be a place that was comfortable and workable, but also a place to spark ideas and inspiration.
Bright, happy colors dominate the Montague’s creative work, so it felt natural to incorporate bold primary tones into their interior design. They assembled an eclectic and colorful gallery wall above their Hopson sofa, which grounds the space in a neutral grey. Striking patterns and pops of bright paint fill their space with character that playfully juxtaposes the natural woods and industrial metals. Mid-century lines were a natural fit for the low-slung space as well as their whimsical aesthetic.
Seeing as creativity is a major focus of daily life in the Montague Workshop, crafty details and charming decor concepts are scattered throughout the space, such as their garland of kids socks in the living room (could it get any cuter?) The layout of the space is conducive to their work, creating a seamless transition from film studio and workshop, to living spaces.
“It’s all about living with the joyful vision for how things could be.” – Brad
