Step inside a colorful Palm Springs vacation home that serves as a source of relaxation and escape for one busy Los Angeles family.
For Douglas and Dennis, the daily grind in Los Angeles left them longing for a weekend home to get away from it all. Dennis works as a journalist and Douglas is a hospital executive, and while their 1920s Mediterranean stye home in LA is where they spend the bulk of their time, they wanted to create a vacation home that was close, relaxing and fun. The couple’s search for a stress-free zone led them to a light-filled, two-story condo in Palm Springs, where they regularly escape together with their 10-year-old son, Lonan, and black lab, Cooper.
New York has the Hamptons and LA has Palm Springs
When it came to decorating, Douglas and Dennis wanted to stay close to the mid-century modern roots of Palm Springs. Using online finds and collected art to fill the white-walled condo, the space is bright and airy with a laid-back feel. A color scheme of blue, green and orange adds a playful quality to the home, which the couple humorously dubbed Casita Margarita. What’s more, Douglas and Dennis have stocked their casita with all the necessities of home so they can turn up any time and have everything they need without having to pack for the weekend. It’s the perfect recipe for relaxation!
