What are you doing New Year’s Eve? If hosting a get-together at home is on the agenda, then we’re here to help! Here are some of our favorite tips for New Year’s Eve entertaining – It’s all about creating a festive, colorful, and cozy space to welcome in a new year of stylish possibilities! (And champagne doesn’t hurt either!)
Every year there’s the same rush to ensure you have something to do on New Year’s Eve. And while being out in the hustle and bustle of the holiday can be plenty of fun, we suggest skipping the stress of the crowds and hosting a party at home just for your inner circle of family and friends. Not only will it be a more intimate affair, but it will give you an excuse to decorate your home especially for New Year’s Eve. And what could be better than giving your living room a party-ready make-over?
Just like any design scheme, you’ll want to create a color palette for your party that works with your existing decor and adds some color and sparkle to the space. For our New Year’s design, we played off the rich turquoise tones of our Briar Sleeper Sectional in Royale Peacock with accents of blush pink, gold, cream, and black. These colors play into the sophistication of the night while tying in a sense of playfulness and fun to match the festive cocktails and exuberant atmosphere.
Seating is always important when hosting guests, so you want to be sure you provide enough options at varying levels and styles to suit everyone’s needs. We balanced out our sectional with a cheery Soto Chair in Bentley Daisey and our shaggy Clare Pouf in a pale pink. What’s great about this particular set up is that the sectional is actually a sleeper too, so if any guests over imbibe, they have a place to crash as well!
Speaking of cocktails, there is no better holiday to decorate a fun and fully-stocked bar cart than New Year’s Eve! Create a drink station with a decadent spread – pink pre-made cocktails, and all the classic spirits that your guests may enjoy. We decked out our Cole Bar Cart with a gold “Happy New Year” sign, gold straws, festive napkins, and an assortment of drink options. Fresh garnishes add a dash of elegance suitable for such a special night while delicate glassware will add a touch of refinement to the setup, but make sure you also have all the essentials. As sparkling beverages tend to be a holiday favorite, be sure to have an ice bucket on hand, plenty of ice, as well as Pellegrino and sparkling cider for those who want a non-alcoholic option.
As you decorate, make pre-poured Prosecco and sweet treats easily accessible in the space (we placed ours on our London Coffee Table in the center of the room.) And noise-makers are naturally a must on New Year’s Eve! And for one final touch, create an Instagram-worthy focal point with a scattering of balloons above your drink station. For ours, we used balloons in various sizes and mixed all the colors of our party color-palette. Throw any extra balloons on the floor to create a laid-back party atmosphere that will help tie the entire space together.
Finally, as is the key to any party, invite the people you love and take the time to cherish each others’ company. Follow all these tips and you’re sure to ring in 2018 in style!
