A style that keeps cropping up in interiors-to-envy is bohemian meets glam – a darling mix of retro-glamour with modern bohemian sophistication. Read on for some insight on working this look in your living room!
What we absolutely love about this look is how it pairs 1960s Hollywood glam, with more modern bohemian details. The result is a space that’s undeniably stylish, but still feels livable. What’s more, this symphony of styles ensures that your living room doesn’t look like a time-capsule, but rather a subtle homage to trends both vintage and modern.
To pull off this aesthetic, your color palette is imperative – you need to be aware of how you’re mixing up retro tones with current staples. One thing to be wary of is getting too colorful. Try to stick with two vintage shades and then a basic neutral in white or gray. For our living room setup, we opted for a palette of lush tropical green, blush pink, pale golds and clean white. This color combination has an adorable Palm Springs vibe to it, but still feels fresh and current.
Our use of palm-printed wallpaper juxtaposed with our elegant Hathaway Sofa in our soft Royale Blush fabric is a not-so-subtle nod to the iconic interior design of the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel. But we put our own distinct stamp on the look by incorporating our Soto Chair in an equally plush and delightful Royale Evergreen fabric. We finished off the space with our mid-century chic Butler Tall media console and a demure drinks cart – from the time of Doris Day to present day, it’s an essential piece for entertaining guests and a staple in this glam style!
To successfully create this look, it’s essential to keep extra decor and design elements to a minimum. Clutter and glam simply just don’t mix! For our space, we nixed the traditional coffee table and replaced with a smaller stool. We kept our decor very sparse, making the focus a beautiful palm plant that perfectly complements the adjacent wallpaper.
Finally, we added a few key bohemian elements to the room to give it some complexity and modern charm. The wicker basket planter makes for the perfect boho alternative to a traditional planter. And an assortment of goldenrod-hued pillows adorn the sofa, while a boho-style shag rug ties the space together.
If you’re looking to give your space a style boost, it really doesn’t get more on-trend than this easy-glam look!
