Looking for a way to spend Independence Day? Check out our favorite ways to celebrate America below!
Independence Day is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning how you’re going to celebrate! At Joybird, we think that July 4th is one of the best holidays of the year and we take celebrating it very seriously. We love the backyard barbeques, pool days, lake trips, and camping trips that are seemingly synonymous with the holiday, but we think it may be time to shake it up. Celebrating is not one size fits all, so we wanted to provide you with some of our favorite alternative ways to celebrate the 4th of July. Read them below and prepare to get inspired!
Sitting Around a Bonfire
One of the best summer traditions is spending time with your friends and family around a bonfire. Bonfires are great, especially when you opt to roast marshmallows or enjoy a delicious spread of finger foods. You typically have bonfires at night, so we like to do this fun tradition while enjoying another one – watching 4th of July fireworks. Fireworks are exciting and, often, the main event of Independence Day. We love this combination specifically because it’s always great to combine dinner (or dessert!) with a show. While you wait for the show to begin, we recommend pregaming the fun with sparklers!
Spending Some Quality Time with Someone You Love
We get it – not everyone wants to host or attend a huge party and, instead, want to send their day off from work or school relaxing at home. If you’re in that camp this year, we recommend using the holiday to spend quality time with a family member, friend, or significant other. There’s nothing better than cuddling up on the couch, drinking wine, and spending a relaxing day reconnecting with a loved one. You can even enjoy a low key meal outside. Regardless of what you end up doing, all you need to worry about is kicking back and enjoying your day.
Hosting an American-Themed Potluck
The reason for this holiday is to celebrate America’s independence, but, let’s face it – it’s a time to eat great food and spend time with great people. Food is the perfect way to bring people together, so it’s important to take advantage of a holiday where you have a chance to do it. We like the potluck idea because it takes the pressure off of the host, but it also gives everyone the chance to showcase what kinds of foods they associate with the US. Hopefully, you’ll take an adventure around the country through cuisine!
